COMM 2990 - Directed Research Experience Enrollment

1-3 credits. Enrollment limited to freshman and sophomores. COMM 2990 will not fulfill any Communication major requirements, nor will it be used to fulfill CALS distribution credits. Students from all Colleges must submit a CALS Special Studies Form. Once the online enrollment form is completed, it will be electronically forwarded to your faculty advisor for their approval. Note: These courses are not added through Student Center.

COMM 4960 - Communication Internship Enrollment

Students must enroll in COMM 4960 during the semester that they complete the internship. Students approved for summer internships must enroll in COMM 4960 the following fall semester. To be enrolled in COMM 4960, students must talk with Jodi Cohen prior to the final day to add a course in order to receive approval.

COMM 4960 is NOT added through Student Center or the CALS Special Studies form. Step-by-step instructions here!

COMM 4970 - Individual Study in Communication Enrollment

1-3 credits; may be repeated up to 6 credits (toward total credits needed for graduation) with different supervising faculty member. Prerequisite: 3.0 GPA. Students from all Colleges must submit a CALS Special Studies Form. Once the online enrollment form is completed, it will be electronically forwarded to your faculty advisor for their approval. Note: These courses are not added through student center.
* This course will count as an upper level Communication course. A maximum of 3 credits in either 4970 or 4990 (combined) can be counted toward the upper level major requirements.

COMM 4980 - Communication Teaching Experience

1-3 credits; may be repeated to 6 credits with different courses. Intended for undergraduates desiring classroom teaching experience.
Prerequisite: junior or senior standing; 3.0 GPA (2.7 if teaching assistant for skills development course); permission of faculty member who supervises work and assigns grade. Students from all Colleges must submit a CALS Special Studies Form. Once the online enrollment form is completed, it will be electronically forwarded to your faculty advisor for their approval. Note: These courses are not added through student center.
* This course will only count for a general elective.

COMM 4990 - Independent Research

1-3 credits; may be repeated to 6 credits (toward total credits needed for graduation)with different research experiences. Prerequisite: 3.0 GPA. Enrollment limited to juniors and seniors. Students from all Colleges must submit a CALS Special Studies Form. Once the online enrollment form is completed, it will be electronically forwarded to your faculty advisor for their approval. Note: These courses are not added through Student Center.
* This course will count as an upper level Communication course. A maximum of 3 credits in either 4970 or 4990 (combined) can be counted toward the upper level major requirements.
