Jon Schuldt and Andrea Stevenson Won win CCSS awards
Jon Schuldt and Andrea Stevenson Won received Faculty Small Grants from the Cornell Center for Social Sciences. Jon will apply his grant to organizing a symposium on climate change, and Andrea will apply hers to research on the effects of avatar appearance and customization on embodied applications.

Nathan Matias was quoted in an article in The Guardian about Twitter's ban on political advertising.

Diane Bailey invited distinguished speaker at Psychology conference
Diane Bailey was invited as a distinguished speaker at the “New Directions in Research on the Psychology of Technology” conference in Washington DC, a small, invitation-only, annual event that brings together leading scholars and influential industry leaders who share an interest in how technology is changing individuals and society.

Brooke Duffy appointed Associate Professor with indefinite tenure
Brooke Duffy was appointed Associate Professor with indefinite tenure effective 1 November 2019. Congrats to Brooke!

Danielle Eiseman wins Postdoc Achievement Award
Danielle Eiseman, Visiting Lecturer and former postdoc with Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, received a Postdoc Achievement Award. The awards recognize postdoctoral scholars who have made contributions to community and show commitment to promoting inclusion at Cornell and in society.

Nathan Matias named Faculty Fellow in Engaged Learning
J. Nathan Matias was named a 2019-2020 Faculty Fellow in Engaged Learning by Engaged Cornell.

Jeff Niederdeppe wins Research and Extension Award
Jeff Niederdeppe received the 2019 CALS Research and Extension Award for Outstanding Accomplishments in Science and Public Policy. The award “recognizes an individual who has demonstrated innovation and leadership by integrating science-based knowledge into public policy and management.” The award committee noted that Jeff’s work exemplifies the criteria with his focus on “health issues of critical national and global concern” and “strong public policy engagement.”

Jon Schuldt publishes article in Washington Post
Jon Schuldt and Peter Enns published an op-ed about Trump's racist rhetoric in The Washington Post. The article uses data from their 2018 Midterm Election Survey and already seems to be getting some attention.
