Ryan Silbert

Founder and Principal, Origin Story Entertainment; Creative Director and Partner, Toy Closet Films

Ryan is a NY-based independent filmmaker with award-winning work recognized by the Academy Awards®, the Canadian Academy of Film & Television, Sundance, MoMa, IFP, the Toronto International Film Festival, and the Berlinale. He is the founder of the globally focused Origin Story Entertainment where he is currently in development on television, film, and immersive narratives projects in virtual and augmented reality with talents including Stephen King, Greg Nicotero, George Romero, Spike Lee, and Stan Lee. In addition, Origin Story Creative works with C-Level executives helping brands shape their stories for digital and traditional media. Successful recent engagements include serving as a consulting content director for luxury coffee brand, illycaffe and providing in-house production services for DirecTV including producing an award-winning short documentary about the NYC All-Stars program.

Ryan is an appointed member of the Cornell Communication Advisory Board and Cornell University Council. He is a voting member of the Producers Guild of America, National Board of Review, and Canadian Academy; an associate member of the British Academy of Film and Television; and on the regional selection committee for the AMPAS Student Academy Awards. He graduated with honors from Cornell University with a dual degree in Communications and Business and is an MFA-Candidate at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Film Program where he also recently completed a post-doc fellowship investigating immersive narratives in games and film. As a writer and producer he is currently represented by Foundry Literary+Media. He is a current Fellow at the competitive Virtual Reality Labs at the MAGNET Center where he is developing cinematic virtual reality projects.
