Heather (they/them) joined the Department of Communication in October 2017 after working as the Program Assistant in the Department of Architecture. Heather received their Bachelor of Arts in Culture and Communication from Ithaca College, where they studied Spanish, social justice theory, and performance. They love cooking, reading, traveling, snuggling with their rescue dog Zelda Sayre, and spending time outside enjoying nature. 


In their role as the Undergraduate Program Coordinator, Heather assists students and faculty with the following:

  • Provide academic support and one-on-one advising (degree planning and course selection)
  • Plan department events (COMMConnect Networking event, Commencement, Senior Dinner, Study Breaks, Orientation, Young Alumni Madness, Coffee Chats in the Hub, etc.)
  • Administer course updates and offerings; submit new course proposals 
  • Assist the Director of Undergraduate Studies with curriculum planning by providing administrative support
  • Manage the Communication FacebookTwitterChatter, Instagram accounts 
  • Meet with prospective students and families/guardians (High school or college transfers)
  • Distribute Communication awards and grants
  • Oversee internship and special studies enrollment
  • Assign students to faculty advisors
  • Advise Communication minors
