The Annual Woodford Persuasive Speaking Contest Winners for Fall 2019

First Prize ($1,000) to Tyler Sturdivant (junior, Business/Hotel Administration) for her speech on “Maintaining Affirmative Action for College Admission Decisions.”

Second Prize ($700) to Emmy Chen (senior, Government) for her speech on “Restorative Justice instead of Prison.”

Third Prize ($500) to Grace Paletta (junior, Communication) for her speech on “Allowing the Incarcerated their Voting Rights.”

Honorable Mentions ($200 each) to Caleb Trieu (junior, Business/Hotel Administration) for his speech on “Replacing Tipping in Restaurants with a Hospitality Charge;” and William Kandalaft (junior, Entomology for his speech on “Federal Approval for the Death with Dignity Act.”
